And we have a lot of conversations about how to be a better athlete and how to improve your performance. Welcome to the BE AHEAD. podcast. My name is Kim and this is my co-host Jeroen.

Thank you, Kim. Love to be on this podcast, kind of my background here. I am Jeroen Molinger, I’m the program director of Duke Human Pharmacology and Physiology Lab. My main focus is currently prerogative care and heart failure with a specific interest in muscle physiology and mainly looking into why what makes a patient being at risk. So, we know that muscles play a very important role in determining risk in a patient, which we, I think we will talk about later on in, how and why a muscle is such an important organ.

Thank you for being on this podcast with me. I am not as interesting as Jeroen, but I do love sports and training and improving my performance overall. I lost a lot of weight and got into fitness a few years ago. And I'm also part of Train.Red. So talking about Train.Red. We translate oxygen data from your muscle to features that guide sports enthusiasts to improve strength and endurance training. This podcast is created with the goal to bring more knowledge to the masses.

What Train.Red currently makes possible, is the way of assessing muscle physiology in a non-invasive way, we can gather data -- which we normally would not have -- even in a home base situation. I think this is very novel, I think is the way to move forward to have a better understanding about performance, about recovery. I think we need to have a little bit more deep dive in to see what this metric from Train.Red does, like tissue saturation, muscle oxygen consumption, what it will really give us.
